Arif Havas Oegroseno currently serves as Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs in the Red and White Cabinet after being inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto on 21 October 2024. He concluded his assignment as the Ambassador Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary of the Republic of Indonesia to the Federal Republic of Germany at the end of 2024, a position he was sworn into by the President of the Republic of Indonesia on 20 February 2018.
Previously, he held the office of Deputy Minister at the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment from 2015 – 2018 after serving as the Ambassador of Indonesia to the Kingdom of Belgium, Grand Duchy of Luxemburg and the European Union from 2010 to 2015. His previous assignments at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia include the position of Director General for Law and International Treaties from 2008 – 2010, a promotion from the previous position of Director for Political, Security and Regional Agreements at the Directorate General for Law and International Agreements from 2002 – 2008.
In June 2010, he became the first Indonesian to preside over the 20th Conference on the Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) of 1982 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, presiding over 160 member states of the 1982 Convention.
