At the beginning, the book with the title of “Diversity, Morphological Characters and Habitat Of Fish In Musi
River Drainage Area, South Sumatra” was written to assist fisheries people in identifying fish species of Musi River.
Later on, the objective was developed not only to provide the identification information but also providing more information
on their bio-ecological, marketed status, and red list status. Materials presented in this book such as the photograph,
morphological characters, and taxonomy, were mainly taken from the results studies conducted in Musi River drainage
area in 2006-2007. Other information such as the common name, habitat, migration pattern, maximum size, food,
reproduction, resilience marketed status, and red list status were taken from fish base organization. Some of fish
photograph are also cited from the Fish Base.org.
We would like to thank to the director of Research Centre for Capture Fisheries, and Director of Research
Institute for Inland Fisheries (RIFF) for giving us the opportunity and financial aid to publish our book. Our great
appreciation address to Fishermen along the Musi River drainage area for their valuable information, and also to
researches and technicians at the environment and ecotoxicology research group of RIFF for their entiring hardwork
both in the field and in the laboratory. Last but not least, we would like to express our great honour to FIBI-Team such
